Thunderstorm

I think I’ll go up the country
There are some severe thunderstorm warnings
I want to see it out there, in open fields and on the horizon.
I’m not going to pack our tent

Or stay in some comfortable hotel
Watching from the window.

I think I’ll stay in the car.
Watch it, like I watched the surf back in 2011
On the top of the cliff over the Great Australian Bight
With my rudimentary dinner made from the finest local offerings.
I think I will do that again
Tomorrow night
When you are doing important things

I think I’ll go up the country.
My puppy doesn’t like storms and I don’t like to leave him.
Wonder how he’ll fare out there.
I think he should grow up a little, but he is too old for that now.
